thank you everyone i mean it i really have been surprised and had a good cry i love finding i have such good friends thank you okay on to the showing off bit ^_^

okay i think the first thing i will show off about is i taught myself felting, as in dry felting mostly single needle though sometimes i choose to stab myself with a multi needle holder as well, yup believe me much as it is a fab hobby to have you need protection, you need to invest in some sturdy leather gloves and even then i have been known to stab myself through the leather,

yeah you are right big bloody ouch is right,

as always i just decided like right in the middle of the night- i was stuck in bed as usual and couldn’t sleep (stupid annoying pain) so i thought hey i should stab myself, well no i actually thought i want to make a hat, so i did, yup just like that its just the way i roll baby, unfortunately throughout my life i have always had random ideas and i am blessed? with a completely inability to not only not see consequences but to even contemplate the idea that hey maybe i cannot do said idea, nope it’s never occurred to me,- i see a wall i don’t want it there i knock it down- and yes seriously i have done that before, husband hides all the tools now i am not allowed near hammers saws ppfffft what does he know

okay so luckily at some point in the past i had in fact collected such items as felting wool and even needles, they really are the most evil needles ever invented, not only small, thin, and break easily when embedded in your skin thus meaning you have half a damn needle stuck painfully in your skin but the very thin pointy end bit has tiny barbs sticking out at all different angles, you see it’s these barbs that make the wool felt but they also rather evilly make sure i always get barbed as well as stabbed,

i know i know but i wanted a new hobby ok,

so i already knew how to crochet, taught myself that one years ago, and it is quite safe is crochet, also rather boring though, i don’t know perhaps i live for the thrill of being maimed by my hobbies, so i crocheted my hat basic shape that i wanted – please don’t ask me for the pattern this is not a crochet blog and i never use them anyway its all up here see in my head, then i proceeded to felt various colours of felting wool and you can take quite a lot of pent-up tension out on felting you know, all that stabbing works out few issues, and well, as it grew and took shape a fab idea came to me and i saw how i could create a whole range of very fab arty hats,- because no matter what i do my art always sneaks in there somewhere,

so i used blues and black and beads and threads and when it was finished i loved it, i named it midnight sun and it sold straight away so the next one i kept for me i love it i called it eye in the sky i shall show you

this is midnight sun my first ever hat

  1. The hats you’ve created are beautiful! I love the beading touches on them, and the names you gave them, too. I can appreciate the hard work you put into making them, and (ouch) the injuries to your fingers…those needles sound wicked. I’ve done crochet, but never tried felting…think I’ll leave that to you… 🙂 …Enjoy your weekend!

    1. thank you for your kind words, i confess i think i made it sound easier than it is, they actually took about three weeks all told to make each one, so its not a hobby for those like like to make things quickly they take a lot of patience, i do find i have to be in the mood for felting whereas i can draw or paint any time,
crochet is great i am glad you like it, if you are on facebook at all then join a group called ‘pattern free crochet’ they give the most beautiful patterns, all free, i need two lifetimes to make all the gorgeous patterns they post ^_^ hope you also enjoy a lovely weekend, saturday is always my creating with the kids day so tomorrow we have chosen to learn origami together, i have acquired pretty paper and a book and so tomorrow i hope will be full of cleverly folded paper projects ^_^ take care xxxxxxxxxxx

  2. Trent want eye hat! Felting… I had not idea that was a thing. And I think you should still write, you know. Can you really stop? And don’t stab yourself, lady! We like you around here.

    1. ahh thank you my dear trentle glad you liked my new talent and the stabbing well it just happens you know you can always tell where i am in the house and what i am doing by listening for the ‘ouch’ if heard in kitchen i am cooking- i always always burn myself when cooking i hate cooking and every single time i end up somehow burning myself the kids love it and laugh followed by comments of ‘oh mum must be cooking again’ if heard in the bedroom then i am felting yup not a single felted project can be done without injuring oneself, if heard in any other rooms then it means i should be in bed and take more tablets so my day to day life is communicated by following the word ouch, have a super weekend my lovely trentle xx

  3. How gorgeous! I did not know the process of felting and it sounds painful, but wow…the result is stunning! I don’t blame you for keeping Eye in the Sky..but honestly…I CAN see Trent wanting it. What a magical design. You never cease to amaze me kizz…always something new and always something brilliant. And when you’re back to feeling like writing, you will…your voice is unique and your creativity knows no bounds…love you and (save those fingers!) xoxox

    1. aww thank you rhinda i am just waiting to be well enough to go to a festival and wear i have a wig in pale pastel blue and pale pink that i wear with it just waiting on the occasion to hurry up and happen ^_^, mas to writing i have to admit i had the craziest dream last night and as i told my second daughter – the 14 yr old- she instantly said mam that has to be a film or a book or something write it down now! so maybe the time is right to start writing again i still have a book written and finished and everything just being edited i just haven’t found the confidence to publish it i will have a think about it later for now it is coffee time i have a coffee ritual each morning it has to be milky coffee very mild and there must be cookies choclate chip cookies and soon as i take the first gorgeous sip of coffee i always say ‘aahhhh coffee coffee coffee coffee coffee’ my oldest always shakes her head and says mum there really is no one like you i- i can never work out if she means it nicely or not lol love you rhinda have a super sundayxxxxxxxxxxxx

      1. The festival sounds a perfect occasion for that beautiful hat and I wish I could see the pink and blue hair! And your daughter means it in the nicest way I have zero doubt. And listen kiddo…lose your favorite whatdoyacallit or whirllygig…but don’t lose your confidence…you are a natural and listen to your kids…no one like you and no voice like yours. When it’s time, you’ll know it. love always…R
